An hour later this was the scene:
Sorry these photos are so grainy, they are with my very old zoom lens, and I had to crop in quite a bit to get any sort of closeness - as she labored she wondered further and further away from me.
Unfortunately I did not get to see the calf stand and take it's first steps because it was time (past really) to head into town and get J from school.
A pretty darn cool thing. Hope the photos don't gross you out too much.

Well, that's something we don't see every day!! How cool that you were able to capture it.
Oh wow, talk about timing! Too bad you couldn't stick around to watch it start walking, that would have been awfully cool too!
My grandparents had a cattle farm. One Christmas they took all the kids (cousins were all there) to watch a birth. The ironic thing...the girls were grossed out and the boys thought it was the coolest thing, lol. Very cool to be able to witness something like that. how cool that you captured the moment.
Oh wow, that is really really cool! Great capture, at the right time!

Not gross - beautiful and you were lucky to capture it :)
What excitement that must have been! My boyfriend in high school lived on a farm and we would always go out and let the calves suck on our fingers after they were just born! So cool that you got to capture this!

Wow, amazing pictures! They sure are cute when they are little!
Thank you so much for sharing the photos. I grew up in the country around many farm animals, but I never got to witness the birth of a calf. My dad still lives on a farm in TN but I don't get a chance to visit often. These and many other of your photos bring back lots of memories for me. Happy Valentine's Day!
