Field Trip

To the Art Splot with the fifth grade class - not J's class. They are doing a project with clay and learning a lot about clay. I was just along to take some photos. I'm learning as I go to get those indoor photos without flash and to work with lighting conditions are I find them. I'm not saying I've got this mastered, but I am feeling more comfortable at least trying.

It's digital, so it doesn't cost me anything to try, right? This one with the instructor using the wheel is my POTD. Why is the pottery wheel so romantic? And such a challenge? I don't know anyone who isn't mezmorized watching it go around and around and the clay begin to take shape and rise to it's potential. So cool!

We go back next week to glaze.

I think watching an artist do that is so soothing. Kind of like spinning wool...its just warming in a way I can't explain. I adore how you have captured these details and I think your conversions really add to it.

These are fantastic... I LOVE working with clay, especially on the wheel! It is SO cool to see a shapeless lump become something beautiful before your very eyes. :)

Nice captures. The pottery wheel is only romantic if you watch a master work it. ;)

I think it's something about the circles that make it romantic. You know the circle means never ending commitment... Great captures!

Pottery wheels remind me of Ghost and Patrick Swayze. :o) I think you are doing awesome with the indoor shots. I should do some more playing and learning about indoor lighting. That is always a challenge, which you rocked in these photos!

great photos! My oldest got to visit a pottery studio last year with her art club, and I had so much fun taking photos.

I think people find it romantic because of the movie Ghost. :-) That is a great shot. Indoors without flash is so challenging.

Looks like a fabulous field trip! In 1st grade I taught an Art Literacy program once a month in DS's class. The kids loved it! This year (3rd), I'm helping with the reading program. DS keeps asking me to switch back to art, lol!
