Sorry I couldn't get the photo cropped straight. Something I'm still trying to figure out in my new editing program - I'll get there.
A couple things about walking the last couple of days. First, last week when Andy and J went for a run/ride without me, they had an encounter with a snake. A BIG GIANT snake! They thought it might be a bull snake or a rattle snake. But, as J was riding along suddenly he started to yell, and then bump bump, he ran over a huge snake. It survived and slithered quickly off into the grass, but boy was it exciting. And I heard the story as soon as they returned home.
Well, last evening when we were driving to the parking spot to begin our walk/run/ride (I was along for the walk part this time) we saw a huge - I MEAN GIGANTIC! - snake in the road, slithering out of the way of the truck. It must have been three inches in diameter, and five or more feet long! Yuck. I may do find hiking where bears may be, but I discovered last night that snakes are a whole different story. Was so nervous the whole walk that there would be another snake in the road to scare me, and I wouldn't be safely behind the wheel of my big old truck. The whole experience gave me the willies! I don't think I like snakes.
Tonight I went on a walk by myself on a different road - closer to our home. The sun was doing this:
But that was okay, because I still had some light to get shots like this:And this:
And also this one:
And the Moon was doing this:
Made for a wonderful walk! It was after dinner, and cooling down, so I didn't go more than about three miles round trip on the walk, but it's a walk I take just our our front door, down the driveway and turn left.
I can tell that the end of summer is near. It is getting down into the 40's at night, and this evening while walking, even keeping a pretty good pace, I wished for a sweatshirt. It made me realize that really in about four weeks I'll be packing up all the shorts and tank tops and other summer wear because fall will be upon us. Could have frost any time now, and I know that will seem strange to think of for people in warmer climates, but we are really up north here, and that is just the way it is. Sort of exciting to see the seasons beginning to change, although I don't think I'll notice too much this weekend because it is supposed to be a bit of a heat wave - like 95 during the day.
Oh my, this has become a long post. Sorry about that. Back tomorrow or Sunday!
